Car Seat Safety

Our Child Safety Seat and Booster Inspection Team conducts monthly events at various locations throughout the county.  We work closely with Kohls Cares For Kids In Cars, Dell Children's Hospital, St. David's Round Rock, Baby Earth, CATRAC, WCCHD, the Taylor ISD Family Support Services and others.  Seats are inspected for integrity, expiration, recalls and appropriateness for the child.  The team also ensures that the seat is installed into the vehicle correctly and the parent and/or caregiver can duplicate the installation without difficulty. Our team consists of 6 nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians, one of which is a Certified Child Passenger Safety Instructor.   If you are interested in attending one of our events please call (512) 943-1264.

Car Seat Safety Events

Williamson County Emergency Medical Services will be conducting several car safety seat and booster events for area residents in May. On Thursday, May 11th, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., it will take place at Baby Earth in Round Rock. On Friday, May 12th, from 10 a.m. to noon, we will be working with Georgetown Fire Department at The Learning Experience, located at 1821 Westinghouse Road, in Georgetown.  Then we will host an inspection event in Taylor on Monday, May 15th, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2800 North Drive. The safety seat inspections are offered at no cost to participants and are available by appointment only. Please call 512-943-1264 to schedule an appointment.

FAQ's for events: A limited number of child safety seats are available to families in need. Children will need to be with a parent or other adult caregiver during the inspection.  Items should be cleared from the vehicle in order to allow technicians access to the child safety seats. If a car seat is found to be outdated or not meeting child safety seat standards, it may need to be replaced.

Safety seat checks are planned on a regular basis throughout Williamson County. To learn about future events, contact Kaaren Thoene, kthoene@wilco.org or call 512-943-1264.
